I have talked about what I’d like to do and casually perused tree-planting charities for at-least a year, with good intentions, but no follow through. I’ve been sitting here in this house for three weeks, leaving only once for paint and twice for groceries. Obviously, I’m not counting. Today I found myself feeling angry and disconnected. I felt it on my heart, once again, to give. Honestly, I think I was yearning for connection.
We are moving through a unique experience right now. If you’d like to feel more connected but not be inundated with “The Vid” and all that comes with that, I recommend finding a charity that speaks to you and give. Give a dollar. Give five. You don’t have to sign up for the newsletters or commit to give monthly. There are countless charities out there, if you don’t like what you’re seeing yourself get into, find another. There is something remarkable about giving; it seems to create a sacred space between giver and receiver. One of connection and grace – two of my favorite things.
It felt so good.
Honestly, it was really simple and quick. I encourage everyone to pick one thing they love or feel is important and give a little. Let’s focus on the things we love, the things we want to see more of in the world. There is so much going on around us that we cannot control. What we can control is our outlook, perception, and what actions we are taking to help the situation, or at the very least, not add to the chaos.
The question I keep myself and others is, “How can we create more light right now?”
This is one way.
